Summer Reading!!!

I know that I have not blogged in a long time, and I have had a few requests to continue blogging (Michelle and Julianne) I will try to make good on my promises to continue.

At the beginning of the summer I signed Javen up for the Multnomah County Summer Reading program. The goal of the program is to get kids to read or be read to over the summer. At his age level each reading session would last 30 minutes (it was not always easy getting him to sit that long!) and at the end of the session we would fill in a square on his reading sheet. Each time filled in 12 marks he was eligible to get a prize. Javen was able to pick from little toys, books, and coupons for his prize and do you know what he picked? He picked out a .25 bouncy ball and lost it within two hours , as much as I tried to convince him to pick a book he did not want anything else.

Javen and I read many books this summer some of them are James and Giant Peach, The BFG, and The Witches (and many more small books). Yes there was a theme of books by Roald Dahl, I will blame this on my reading teacher in 6th grade, Mr. Pattianni ( not sure if I spelled his name right!), he only let us read books by Dahl.

While Casey and I  read the most to Javen I would like to thank those who also took time to read to him. Thank you to Grandma, Aunti Lauren, and his babysitter Alyssa.

So with 18 hours of reading time this summer we finished the reading program two days before the deadline. At the end Javen received a summer reading shirt and a pass to the Portland Children's Museum, more on that later!

                                               Yay we did it!

I am so proud of you Javen!

Javen's Talk

Javen gave his first talk in Primary on the 12th of February, and he did a wonderful job! He was very prepared and went right up to the stand and started to say his talk without me! Everyone loved his talk and said that he did such a good job. And with the Primary Presidencie's permission, we recorded his talk so everyone could see.

Javen's Talk
Daniel was a righteous man. He was very wise, and was a friend to the king. Some bad men did not like Daniel and they wanted him gone. The bad men tricked the king into making a new law. No one could pray to God for 30 days. If anyone prayed to God, they would be thrown in the lion’s den. Daniel did not like this law. He loved Heavenly Father and went home to pray.  The bad men followed him home and saw him praying. They told the king and the king was forced to throw him into the lion’s den. The king hoped that God would save Daniel. The next morning the king went to the lion’s den and asked Daniel if he was OK. Daniel said, "yes", and that God had made the lion’s nice. God blessed Daniel because he was righteous.  I can be blessed when I choose the right.

We are so proud of you Javen, you gave a wonderful talk!

My Thumbsuckers

Starting this last week, Coralie has started sucking her thumb.
I was taking so many pictures of Coralie sucking her thumb, Javen decided he wanted to do it too. Thats my silly boy!

Santa is real! - A Christmas Miracle

Every year on Christmas Eve Santa Claus comes to my mom's house and gives out early Christmas presents. He also asks each person there what they would like for Christmas. This year (because I have a 2 month old baby) I asked for a "silent night. "
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Roy'l

Santa laughed and said, " I do not see that happening tonight, maybe by January 6th.

On the morning of January 7th I woke up to hear Coralie stirring and to my surprise it was already 6am! She had slept 8 hours between feedings on January 6th! Santa is real, and he gave me my Christmas wish.

Coralie's Beautiful Dress

Coralie was given this beautiful dress this Christmas from Grandpa Kevin. I love it so much I wish I had one for myself!

This is the first smile that I have been able to capture on camera.

Javen is in Primary!!!

As of this last Sunday Javen is officially in Primary! He was a little hesitant to go into the primary room, so Casey joined him to make him more comfortable. There is a very large sunbeam class this year, a total of 14 kids! Although there were only 8 of the 14 kids, I was told they were still very active. During class time Sister Merrill (Javen's teacher) asked all of the kids to say their names and then say that they were a child of God. When Javen's turn came to do this, instead of just saying, "I am a child of God, and my name is Javen" he said, I am a child of God, and my name is Javen Roy Dover."

Now what I have to say next might surprise some of you...Javen received the reverence award for the junior Primary! This means that during singing and sharing time Javen was the most reverent out of all the kids. He was able to choose a prize and chose Mountain Dew chapstick. I am so proud of my little boy and am excited for all that he will learn in Primary.
